Running your own CRON job gives you greater flexibility in terms of when, what and how you want to back up. A user could also roll back easily whenever they wanted, which is not available with every hosting provider.

Aside from that, the script teaches basic shell commands which are useful for users who wish to know more about Linux and/or are interested in running their own server.

Godaddy runs back ups of their own, but it is very useful to have the ability to manage your own as well. Doing so adds an additional level of protection against data loss.</description>
